Funerals
“In life, in death, in life beyond death, we are not alone. Thanks be to God.”
As we mark the passing of those we love, we hold on to these words of comfort. And as we walk alongside one another through death and grief, we take them to heart – throughout all that we experience, we are in community.
When we experience the death of someone that we love, we seek to tell their story, share their legacy, and honour all that was meaningful in them. And we seek to grieve with those that loved them and loved us.
As a congregation and ministry team, we are honoured to be able to support you, and to work together to create a service that honours the deceased and is meaningful to all who would attend.
We are willing to host the service, but would also be willing to offer it at a funeral chapel or at your home. Often, a celebration of life takes place at the church or funeral home, then there is a lunch, and then we do a service of internment at the graveside or niche.
In planning a funeral, our minister would be interested in meeting with members of the family as soon as possible. He’ll want to know about the person, what they were like, what they were passionate about, what they believed. If there are pieces of scripture, poems, or pieces of music they loved, that would be nice to know too. He’ll want to know who should be involved in the service, and how they would like to contribute. He’ll take that information and create a service that will honour the life of your loved one.
